Helle Kjærstad specialises in Shipping and Offshore Oil and Gas matters. Her primary area is dispute resolution, but she has also acquired extensive transactional experience in these industry areas since qualifying as an English solicitor in 2002.
In the area of Shipping, Helle assists clients in a very wide variety of matters, including shipbuilding, charter party, sale and purchase, cargo, bunker, management and brokerage claims. She also has extensive experience in dealing with cross-border insolvencies and in enforcement issues, the latter including by way of arrests, injunctions, attachments and similar, world-wide.
Additionally, Helle has handled a large number of casualties, including fires, groundings, collisions, allusions, loss of moorings and piracy incidents.
Helle also advises extensively on sanctions regulations, both in connection with operational issues arising and in the implementation of sanctions policies.
She is well known for her abilities to guide clients in resolving the legal and commercial issues that arise in their general day-to-day operations.
Helle’s Offshore Oil and Gas expertise spans transactions, dispute resolution and litigation, predominantly in respect of FPSOs, Drilling and Supply Vessels. She has acted in some of the largest and most complex arbitrations conducted in London in these areas in recent years.
