David Gardner has more than twenty years of experience in advising on oil and gas projects worldwide.
During this time he has experienced oil at US$10 per barrel and at US$150 per barrel, seen the evolution of the LNG industry from a “floating pipeline” for the transportation of stranded gas to a sophisticated industry producing gas for trading worldwide from billion dollar projects, and participated in the evolution of the wind industry.
Many oil and gas projects are dependent on the political, fiscal and regulatory regimes that underpin the host country, and on global economic developments. The last 20 years have seen the growth of China and the Chinese construction industry, the financial crises of 1998 and 2008 and the Arab Spring.
These and other developments generate new challenges for the project contracts and new sources of disputes. David has the experience that comes from advising many of the leading LNG, floating production and offshore construction projects of the last 20 years. He also has the experience to manage the problems that can arise under these contracts and if necessary to arbitrate or litigate these problems to a successful conclusion.
